Stick Man helped Santa deliver the toys......

It's Christmas!!!! hoorah! Toby's treat was to see Stick Man last week at the Soho Theatre..... for those that have no idea Stick Man is Toby's favourite book by, oh you know that know - The Gruffalo one - The Gruffal-o - Oh, the cartoon that's on TV on Christmas day. Right, are you all with me?

To make it even more of a special day I thought, what better than for the fella to have his own Stick Man to take to the show. I imagined his face all beaming repeating "stick man, stick man, stick man!" which is what we get just by reading the book. What I actually got was "stick  man" in a 'your in the way of the Christmas tree' tone. Ah, we do try. The show was marvellous and it was lovely to see other peoples children be amazed at my Stick Man creation.

Dancing Shoes

So, I've only just got round to listing this ber-you-tee-ful ballet shoe stocking for those that just love to tippytoe round the tree. Its longer and slimmer (well, they don't have fat legs do they) The Sally stockings are going fast, only 2 left - good boy and very good girl, so if you do know any of those me thinks you should reward them. Toby has been a very bad tanrumy boy so no stocking for him!

Makes Exceedingly Good Fairs

We Make Christmas was marvellous! Shockingly not one stand you could walk past and not look......well done We Make!

I still have lots of decorations and stockings and each will get listed in time but if anyone's interested in anything you see on my crammed table then put your hand up and ask.

Isn't that a pip!

So, Jo who helped me on "that" Sunday (no show show) to return the favour I said that I would try to make a Ninky Nonk cake for her son's In The Night Garden party.....yes, yes we can all see that's a foolish thing to say now. So with the help of my sister and 3 days of work later, it was done - here to bore you is how we spent last Saturday when I should have been making more Christmas things for We Make Christmas.

Fun? Fair?

So rather than dwell on how dreadful the "show" (or rather no show) was on Sunday I'll at least show you photos and tell you about how lovely my show neighbours were.
Next door were Clare and Lee from Snug Baby. So nice and good at their job that I ended up in coming home with less money than I went out because I bought one of their rather marvellous slings.
The day itself was dreadful and was only saved by the people I met. The other exhibitors were all great and the show could have been so good if only people came, I think if they knew about it they would have..... "if you build it" and all.....

I made so many pieces especially for the event but at the last minute this was an addition - return of the cupcake tree but in baby blanket form. It will show at We Make Christmas and I really hope that it gets a good home their.

Childs Play

Hello Kitty – From the Beginning

The Designer Baby Show is fast approaching (15th November) .....I've been working like crazy so I'm hoping that someone might take pity and buy off me. I've got 3 pairs of tickets to give away and all you have to do is let me know the funniest thing that you've heard a little person call something or someone - all inspired by Toby shouting "Hello Titty" every time he sees Hello Kitty (well its funny to me) he also says "cock cock" when he means 'knock knock' - a filthy mind you might think but at the moment its endless hours of fun for us but I really hope it stops soon.......

So if you'd like to come and can make the journey to The Spirit Conference Centre, Berkshire then comment away! I'll pick someone, well when I see a good enough amount of entries!

Best Foot Foward

Christmas in Tobyboo land started in July - stockings have been in my head ever since...... I'd come up with an idea and start sewing at about 11.30pm just in time to annoy my husband.

Here's a few that are now listed on Etsy and MISI but will have all the collection for We Make Christmas - unless they sell now in which case Dave is really going to be Mr Miserable as I'll be sewing through the night to make more (unless the elves visit in which case all is good!).

Very proud of my puppy sock puppet one on the grounds that my stocking as a child was an old hideous sock, also the green velvet woodland one - Bah Humbug is back - he's nice.......oh I like them all! Here's also a peek at the baby booties stockings that I've been working on for The Designer Baby Show - filled with a decorated muslin and sleeping bunny.

you like....?

When Stanley met Sally

One thing that I'm really pleased with is my Christmas stockings - the sole makes them look really lovely standing   up, you fit more in and so far I still haven't seen anything like them and I think I know why.....they are a huge pain to make. My sister Sally told me last year to do something different and it was her size 5 boots that we drew around to make the pattern as a result those style stockings are now called the Sally stocking.

Sally is not to be confused with Stanley - no prizes for guessing that Stanley has no sole (no, not soul - this isn't Buffy the Vampire Slayer in Stocking form) and so Stanley is flat like - well - every other stocking out there.....except they are still one offs, still lovely using retro and reclaimed fabrics and still fully lined in well, rather gorgeous linings! Here be the first Stanley using retro style fabrics on toe and heal and a reddy herringbone tweed.

I, Robot you Jane

So in my desperate attempt to build a fabric retro wind up robot (well you find another way to describe it) this was creation number 3 and 4. Numbers 1 and 2 are sadly cut up on my table and number 3 was built of parts of number 1.

A cute robot cushion (number 3) and a denim retro wind up (number 4) - I could be the only one that likes number 4, well I am his mother I suppose.

Digger digger digger....

What's that you say? You're looking for a blanket for a baby boy but you don't want any cutesy pastel malarky ? Something different? And no diggers......ehem....well two out of three ain't bad.....Today's creation is this - a higgledypiggledy patchwork blanket with a B and an O and a Y appliqued on for one lucky boy! Possibly a Tracey Emin fan? Hopefully it will go to a good home.

They're so still.....

Now, if you don't have access to a child 'Sleeping Bunnies' will probably mean as much as me saying 'Hi Hi Yojojo'. Sleeping Bunnies is a song that allows tiny people to lie down (well like a sleeping rabbit) and then jump up and down - all very exciting and as a result if you do a search on youtube for it you'll come across hundreds, as parents worldwide would like to show off just what their toddler can do.

The point is that it got me to making these - cute little rabbit decorations - the boy bunnies are now on sale on Etsy and Misi and the fairy ones will be on soon or if you care to see the goods in the flesh then come to the Designer Baby Show in Berkshire on November 15th.

Jack of all trades

Just what do you get for a baby who will be called Jack with dog crazed parents......? Well wonder no longer.

Baby Jack is due on November 7th and today had a heap of gifts thrust upon him at his mums surprise baby shower (that she nearly didn't turn up for) including this Hugaboo. At least I know either he or one of the dogs will be sure to get a cuddle from it!

Mexican Wave

Thought you might like to see my latest commission finished- 'a baby blanket with the Mexican flag'... sorry? the what? Oh, the flag with the eagle on a cactus eating a snake, ah yes everything a baby could want to see! So as ever I had to Tobyboo it, instead we have a mother bird feeding a baby bird who's sitting in a nest, a worm - same sort of elements but cuter me thinks!

Me want! Me want!

So, continuing the 'shooting myself in the foot by showcasing work thats better than mine' week, here's todays offering.

The Letter K Design prints fantastic blocks for nurseries that want more than pink or blue teddies. I love 'Good Night, Sleep Tight' and can't wait to see if Kate creates a 'slugs and snails and puppy dogs tails' one - just gorgeous, gorgeous work......more please Kate!

Would you like custard with that sir?

So yet more in the showcase of work to make my own look gibberish - here is one of my favourite artists, Cowboys and Custards, that I found a while back on Not On The Highstreet (which is soon to be home to Tobyboo too)
